EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP
PROGRAMME - PROJECT CODE: M/LTV 7:5
Southern Cross Kenya Nursery and Primary School

Located in Kenya’s coastal town of Mombasa, lies
Bombo village. A reserved community which relies
on light farming as the main economic activity
aside from the inconsistent palm wine
production. Bombo village according to a recent
Government survey, indicate that they are among
the most economically disadvantaged regions in
the country. Education sponsorship Programme
seeks to avail equitable opportunities to
marginalized girls and boys in rural communities
so that they can realize their full potential.
The principle behind the Education sponsorship
Programme hinges upon the voluntary approach to
community development as is basic to VSKenya.
Volunteers, as agents of change, participate in
this Programme in one way or the other as
follows:
- Materially: Through work camps/summer
camps where volunteers from all over the
world gather in a camp setting, a “project”
and engage in construction of classes.
- Economically: Volunteers participate in
this Programme by sponsoring girls and boys
to school through school fees, stationery,
school uniforms etc.
- Fundraising: Networking with likeminded
organizations and individuals.
